Peter K. Lyons B. Arch. (Hons) M.R.I.A.I. / Director
2009 – Present Director of Lyons Architecture Limited trading as Kenny Lyons & Associates. In 2009 with the retirement of Michael Kenny the practice coverted to a Limited Company with Peter Lyons taking full control and Michael Kenny retained on a Consultancy basis. Some of the Projects Peter is currently working on include;- Tullamore Library refurbishment & Extension
- Extension to Kiladooley National School, Co. Laois
2005 – 2009 Managing Partner & Senior Architect with Kenny Lyons & Associates. In conjunction with a move to larger modern offices in May 2005, the practice began a new era with the formation of the current trading partnership of Kenny Lyons & Associates. Since then Peter Lyons has managed the new practice on a daily basis while maintaining responsibility for the major projects from design to construction, including;
- New 7000 seat spectator stand at O’Connor Park
- New €1.8m extension to Clonaslee National School
- Extension to Atlantic Homecare, Tullamore Retail Park
- New Fire station at Edenderry for Offaly County Council
- 8000 capacity spectator Terrace at O’Connor Park
1994 – 2005 Senior Architect with Kenny & Associates with complete responsibility for the day to day running of the Tullamore office.
Project Architect for all projects assigned to the Tullamore office of Kenny & Associates with responsibility for Design of buildings, attendance at all Client and site meetings and administration of all Building Contracts. During this time Peter gained considerable experience in a variety of Architectural fields as demonstrated on the array of projects which he was responsible for, most notably;
- Tullamore Retail Park, 10,000 sq.m. of Retail Warehousing
- Extension to Lumcloon National School
- New Franciscan Friary at Killarney
- New County Headquarters for Teagasc at Tullamore
- Training & Resource Centre at Sligo for the Rehab Group
- Extension and Alterations to Ferbane Church
1993 – 1994 Project Architect with Donoghue & Fitzgerald Architects Dalkey, Co. Dublin.
Responsible for the conversion of the Former St. Kevins Church, Dublin to 30 exclusive apartments, taking project from initial design through to planning application and fire safety certificate application. This project was a complex task to design studio and 1 bed apartments to fit within the envelope of a highly decorative and intricate church.
Collaborated on a design competition entry for a Buddhist retreat on Holy Island, Scotland.
Michael J. Kenny Dip. Arch. M.R.I.A.I. RIBA / Consultant
A native of Banagher, Co. Offaly. Since qualifying in 1970, Michael has worked for a number of leading Irish Architects.Prior to setting up the firm of Kenny & Associates, he was Architect to the Buildings Operations Division of the Industrial Development Authority, where he developed extensive knowledge of Industrial buildings and Industrial Construction projects.
Since commencing in private practice in 1976 Kenny & Associates have specialised in the following Areas of Architecture:

- Churches
- Commercial
During his career Michael Kenny has designed and managed the construction of a number of large scale commercial, public and Industrial buildings, most notably the Irish Basketball Area in Tallaght, Stiefel Laboratories manufacturing plant in Sligo and the master plan and Industrial Warehouse development at Park West, in Dublin.
Kenny & Associates operated offices in Dublin, Tullamore and Ballina throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s and to this date continue to practice in Dublin as Kenny & Associates.
Michael's extensive career in the Industrial and Commercial sector has provided the Practice with a vast wealth of Knowledge to bring to the design table for any project.
Technical Staff:

Noelle McGinley Dip. Arch. M.R.I.A.I.
Qualified architect who graduated from DIT Bolton Street in 1997, and has been employed by the office since 2001. Noelle has been responsible for the design and construction stages of two large crèche buildings in Athlone and Tullamore IDA business parks, Broughal National School and Gortagarry National School, currently under construction. She is also the design Architect for the extension to Kinnegad National School and St. Laserian's Special Needs School, Carlow.Since the practice obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification, Noelle has also had the responsibility of ISO Quality Manager.

Adam Hernes mgr inż. arch. (Dip. Arch) OPOIA, M.R.I.A.I.
Qualified Architect graduated from Wroclaw Technical University, Poland in 2004. Adam joined the practice in 2006 and since then has obtained RIAI Conservation grade III accreditation. He has been responsible for the design and construction stages of Teagasc Offices at Mohill, Co. Leitrim, Offaly VEC office fit-out, Arden View Community & Family Resource Centre and Loughagar National School.

Shay McGowan MSc. Dip. Eng.
Shay is a Qualified Civil & Structural Engineer graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology in 1991. In 2008 Shay has also completed the B.E.R. assessor training programme and is registered with S.E.I. as a B.E.R. assessor. In 2008 he has also gained a title of MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies at the University of East London which has equipped him with sustainability design skills and a competency in renewable energy applications. Senior Office Technician employed by this office since 2000, with responsibility for collating and distribution of current technical information and for co-ordination and preparation of detailed working drawings for a variety of projects including Lumcloon National School and St. Laserian’s Special School, Carlow, Tullamore Retail Park and O’Connor Park.Cathal Shanahan
Senior CAD Technician who has been with the practice since 1996. Cathal is responsible for preparation of planning and fire safety certificate applications, as well as tender and construction drawings for numerous projects including Apartment development at Store Street, Tullamore, Rahan National School, Tullamore, and Tullamore Retail Park.Alma Egan Dip. Qualified Architectural Technician graduated from DIT Bolton Street in 2004. Alma commenced employment with Kenny Lyons Associates in 2007. Alma is responsible for preparation of planning applications, as well as tender and detailed construction drawings for variety of projects including Tullamore Parish Centre, National School Extension to St. Kevin''s National School in Littleton, Thurles, Co.
