Extension to Lumcloon National School, Co. Offaly

This recently completed project at Lumcloon National School comprises of 4 new classrooms and conversion of the existing classrooms to a General Purpose room.

The original site for the school was extremely restricted and during the design process was further restricted with the provision of two temporary classrooms to the side of the existing building. The resulting design solution was a curved plan building that weaved in between all existing obstacles. The entire new extension is organised in different coloured curved planes and a low pitch Trocal roof with projecting box roof lights to the rear of the classrooms. The curved building creates a form of stage backdrop to the existing original two classroom building. The project was completed in April 2005 at a cost of €1,275,000
