Fire Station in Edenderry

The new 4 bay fire station at Edenderry was constructed on the site of a former Hospital. The building was designed as a concrete framed structure with insulated metal roof supported on clear span purlins. The project included the requirement for a drill tower which was originally planned to be a pre-fabricated open cell steel structure. During discussions with the Client a preference was stated for a fire proof enclosed structure that would allow for the simulation of internal fire and smoke conditions. A precast concrete structure was designed with three intermediate floors and timber shutters.

The new fire station was completed in December 2006 at a cost of €1,519,000
