Streetwise Building Projects
Don Bosco Educare Centre-South Africa

In 2008 Kenny Lyons & Associates became involved with a voluntary group who plan to build an Educare centre in South Africa. The project is the Don Bosco Educare Centre located in Delft which is a township 30km east of Cape Town.

Streetwise Building Projects are a group of volunteers and builders from the Midlands who have completed another project previously in Durban. In february 2011 planning permission was granted for the Don Bosco Centre and it is intended that construction will commence in June 2011.

The group launched their Volunteer and fundraising campaign on Friday 25th February. More information is available on the Facebook page of Streetwise Building Projects. The site for the school is visible on Google street view and Google maps if you search the following address; Silversands Road, Delft, Western Cape, South Africa and look for the junction of Silversands road and Caledon Street.

24/05/2011- Streetwise Buildings break ground

Padraig & Edmund flew out on Saturday 21st May to Cape down and didn't waste any time getting started. Site clearance began on Tuesday 24th May. Streetwise Buildings are seeking Volunteers to raise €3,000 and travel to South Africa for 2 weeks between June and December.

09/07/2011- Alma Egan Volunteers

Alma Egan Architectural Technician with Kenny Lyons & Associates flew to Cape Town on 09th July to work for two weeks on site as a volunteer. Padraig is making great progress with the project with a mixture of local labour and volunteers. Progress photos are uploaded on the streetwise website.

20/12/2011- Job Done

Padraig McIntyre returned this week from Cape Town with the last team of Volunteers having successfully completed the construction and handover of the Educare centre. Congratulations Padraig on your work and devotion to the Project.
